Office Sunshine

Our office is staring to look a lot more happy! :)
Tyler spends alot of time in the office so he had the last say in what color to go with and his finally choice is... Baby Buttercup!
The bathroom also got the same color, and boy is it bright in there! So here are a few before photos

Lovely border right?
Here are some pictures with the border gone and boxes finally cleaned up. On the wall is a few paint swatches I was thinking green or yellow and I'm glad we went with the yellow.

Thankfully the wallpaper came off very easy! I peeled it off and it came down in 3 stripes but the glue was still on the wall. As you can see in the last few shots. So I grab a plastic scraper from lowes, plastic allowed me not to hurt the walls like the other paint scrapper did. Then I look a squirt bottle filled with water and sprayed a section and it came right off! I'm hoping the upstairs border comes off just as easy!

Mom came over and helped and she did a great job! She's officially hired with no pay :)
She was a rolling fool and had the room done by the time I was finished cutting corners!
Then it was on to the tiny bathroom!

Yeah its a bright yellow!
(this picture doesn't show the right yellow cause i look it on my phone, but its my favorite!)

I'm so glad that it only took 1 coat to cover! So we knocked this out in a less than 6 hours and had the office looking back to normal by the time Tyler got home!

And here is how it looks today!

Finally got a few thing hung up on the walls. And the desk is my favorite:) Got some old doors from my dad and stumbled upon the legs when we went junk shopping in manhattan with Caleb & Priscilla.
We still plan on putting another door desk up against the other wall so I can have a place to keep my computer and craft stuff. We are just about to wrap up framing the bathroom mirror so I'll post on how that turns out, so far its looking good. :)

Kitchen

So before I start the biggest project of all...Well biggest project since we moved I need to share with you the first big paint project! The Kitchen!

The maroon had to go, nothing against the color its just not us.
There wasn't really to much maroon when you look at it, just the textured wall in the dining room and above the cabinets. But that maroon took a lot to cover! 2 coats of kilz and 2 coats of blue! 3 coats above the cabinets because I did that all by brush because I didn't feel comfortable with a roller going into tight spaces. So here it is!

As soon as we get the office put back together I'll post on that!
Having thanksgiving at our house has really kicked our butts in gear to get stuff done!

Painting the town

So we've been here for a few weeks and have gotten most of the things put away but we were ready to put our stamp on it and add some color.
Most of the colors in our house are neutral colors which is awesome expect I've lived with them in apartments/duplex for 4.5 years so I am so ready for COLOR!
I feel in love with Dutch Boy Infidelity Pool, ya guessed it Turquoise! And I went straight for the front door.

Do ya see it? It blends in with all of the walls...not very exciting.
But now....

BAM! Now you can find it!

Here is a what the front of the house looked like before with the door white.

And now blue! LOVE IT!
I'll be back later to show you what else got Infidelity Pool Paint!
Lets just say my house is looking very cheerful & bright!

Home Sweet Home

We bought our first house!!!! Its perfect for us and I absolutely LOVE IT! It's in a small little town between both of our works, closer for me though! Its 2 stories with a full basement and a sunporch!! We started seriously looking in July went to a few open houses got a realtor who was extremely helpful (let me know if you need one!) and listened to what we were wanting. He was patience with us which was great because we had no idea if we would find what we wanted in the price we wanted. I think we looked at close to 10 houses before we came and checked out this house. We really liked it threw in a couple of offers and in about 3 hours it was ours!!

We just moved in this past weekend thanks to the help of our family coming down to help unpack clean and setup a few things the house is coming together! So this is how things are looking after the first few days!
The Front Of the House
When you walk the in door this is what you see..
Office there is a 1/2 bath over in the corner too. This room is far from being complete, but we have a lot of plans for it!
Looking from the stairs to the front door.
Kitchen in the back, the maroon will be changing to a brighter color :)
Here is our full basement! It also has our laundry room another bedroom and a bathroom!
So there is a small tour of our first house! We have lots of ideas and projects so we'll be sure to keep you posted!

Summer Of Photos

I think we spent 1 or 2 full weekends at home this summer. It was jammed pack with good times with family and friends! Here is just a few pictures to sum up our summer..

Tyler & I at the beginning of summer right after he got his haircut!
I forgot he looked this good under all that hair! :P

Chase played machine pitch in salina for the summer. It was awesome for us to go down the street and watch him play.

Linds playing softball

Harvest :)

I've always had a idea to take all of grandma's photos of use grandkids that sits on her entertainment center and do a big collage on the wall. And she let me! Thanks grandma for letting me do this it took me awhile to get it finished but the best part is that I used Velcro Removable Fasteners for Posters so there is not holes in the wall! Now the entertainment center is full of pictures of just the great grandkids.

Mom and I spent wednesdays together watching linds play volleyball....what are we going to do when she graduates!?

I got to see more of Brandon in the 1 week he was here than I have in the last 2 years!

It was summer in kansas of course it's hot! Moral of the story never leave your car parked in the sun..

Tyler and his friend Daniel ran in a Warrior Dash in KC. It was a 3.5 mile course with obstacles like jumping over fire, crawling under barb wired fences and running throw a creek. Here is a picture of him afterwards at this cousins house COVERED in mud!

Thanks Pam and Jim for letting them stay at your house and clean up! I hear your new house is awesome and can't wait to come up and visit you guys!

The last weekend of July my cousin Ryan was getting married in Nebraska City and it was great to see so many family members make the trip for there beautiful wedding!

We finished off the summer with a RoadTrip to South Dakota and it was a BLAST! Movie Trailer will be premiering on the blog and I'll be sure to email it out to everyone as soon as we wrap it up!

I still can't believe that labor day is just 2 weeks away and we'll be back into full volleyball and football mode. I'm really looking forward to the cooler weather. Fall is my favorite I love to have the windows and doors open wear my favorite hoodies & jeans all the time and get back to watching college football on saturdays!

Coupons...

Not sure if ya'll have heard about the show extreme couponing but I have to say you have to check it out on TLC! This show is insane! It is so great that these people are getting hundreds of dollars worth of groceries for free. But do you really need enough deodorant to last you 150 years?! I just keep yelling at the tv that these people need to donate to the shelters and churches who could really use it! A few people are pretty reasonable like the lady who is a stay at home mom or who has several kids or the lady who only buys what she really needs not like the guy who buys 1100 boxes of cereal and hundreds of tooth brushes!
Whew the guy is giving it all away! YEAH!!! HAHA!
I don't use coupons like I should but I think I will start, I have some in my purse right now but I looked at them when I was in the store and they are expired! OOPS! Soo I'll give it another try and hopefully use only what we need and use them before they expire!
Do any of you use coupons??

The Dresser

So forever ago I posted and said I would show ya'll what our new dresser looked like and bedding. So here it is in the beginning....

Its a normal 4 drawer dresser but all the fake looking wood just was not working for me.
So on a sunday afternoon I had tyler haul it to the garage and I sanded it off. It was very easy and only took me maybe 45 minutes.

Yup had to get a picture of me doing it so that you all wouldn't think i was lying!
We managed to even put 1 coat of paint on it.
The next day it snowed 11 inches so I skipped out on work and threw a 2nd coat on and lined the drawers with wrapper paper.

Lining the drawers was 1 of the best ideas i've ever found online! So there is my white dresser looking all pretty with the black and white drawers but that wasn't enough for me. So Tyler painted this on the front....

I just LOVE it!!

Here is another thing we did that weekend spray painted a old rotary phone my favorite color.

Busy Weekend

This past weekend we ventured off to KC! One of the bands Tyler likes was playing in Lawrence at The Bottleneck bar so we got to watch the Old 97s play. They are pretty good I even listen to them!! The bar was little and we were able to get on some bleacher time seating so we were able to see everything.

Here is a video of them playing...

I had alot of fun people watching. There was these 2 guys that looked like they were together but the guy in front was dancing with a girl but the guy right behind him was so close looked like he was smelling his hair! I couldn't figure them out then of course there were some way to drunk people fist pumping...oh i swear he was about to hit this girl his arm was out of control!

After the concert was over we went to stay at the awesome "Bacon Hotel" in Bonner Springs. Big thanks to Uncle Shane and Aunt Beth for letting us crash there for the night. Sat we got to watch Reese play basketball and even WIN! Then watched Kennedy play indoor soccer...never seen anything like it! I have to give her a lot of credit because there is no way i'd run up and down a field chasing after a ball and knocking girls down! Wait now that sounds like high school basketball career...

We did of course stop at a few shops while we were up there and made it back by 5 just in time for a quick work out and watching some basketball. You know the basketball game where the Hawks WHOOPED the Wildcats! HA!

This weekend I brought myself a early birthday present a new comforter and bunch of pillows! We are working on another project for our bedroom so i'll be sure to post soon and show you all that we managed to do in just a few days!

How to be...

Your husband's best friend.
Its a book I got from my Aunt Jan & her family as a wedding gift, tyler got how to be a wife's best friend! Well I happened to open it up tonight to read "139: Have an extra set of keys made for your house or car and hide them where they will be available the next time he is locked out"

What's SO funny about that is that Tyler has locked himself out of our house at least 3 times!!
The last time it happened it was in December and 20 degrees outside! I was still 40 minutes away when I got the call that he did it again. So as soon as I got home I went down to True Valve and got 3 keys! Yeah THREE, they were on sale so I figured I'd better stock up who knows when he'll lose one.

So tonight as I'm reading #139 out loud he starts laughing.....why? Well because the keys are hidden but not outside!!!

I'll be the one laughing next time he locks himself and he'll be hearing a "I told you so!"

I had a dream...

I had a dream that I was cleaning and organizing some random ladies house! Yup a dream about cleaning, pretty sure that has never happened to me but thankfully it fueled me to get things done on Sunday.

Cleaning was pretty easy because living in such a small place there really isn't to much to clean. But i still think there is alot that can be given away!

We did manage to get rid of the horrible smell under the sink. And i mean HORRIBLE!! I gagged and about threw up every time i went near the sink! Tyler said he can handle the smell and it wasn't that bad so he got the job of cleaning everything out under there and fixing the leak. I'm extremely thankful he did because i couldn't handle the smell much longer, I smell anything and all random things my nose is like a dog's nose!!
BONUS! Since he can handle horrible smells I told him that'll be great when we have kids with nasty diapers! HA

We also got a binder while we were out to organize all of the print outs/magazine recipes that we find. Then we separated it out so its our own cookbook!

Hope my posts inspires ya'll to clean something out and organize! Even if it is just the freezer you'll feel much better i know i sure do!

Comment Away!

So before you couldn't comment on our posts without having to have another blog or have a google email. Well I finally found the button ( that was in front of my face the WHOLE time! ) thats to my cousin so that now anyway can comment!

Just wanted to let everyone know! Thanks for reading!

SNOW DAY!!!

The first snow of the year and winter finally showed up! Along with the cold weather! But I haven't left the house today to know how cold it is! HA
Salina actually closed school today which meant no work for me! I figure if the school district you live in closes then you should probably stay home. Also leaving over a hour away from my job is a plus because we got more snow up here!
So now that my house is clean, laundry put away, dishes are done and the hubs is cleaning off the driveway i guess it means its back to work tomorrow. Glad I got the snow day though!

Here is what it looked like out our front door....yeah the neighbors got snow blowers I've got a willing husband :)
